Connect Sony TV

Set up the experimental Sony BRAVIA connection in Remote Mouse & Keyboard.

Use this guide for Sony TV (Experimental) in Remote Mouse & Keyboard. It connects directly to a compatible BRAVIA TV over your local network; Remote Helper is not required.

If your Sony runs Android TV or Google TV, start with the Android TV setup guide. The operating system determines which connection to use, and the experimental Sony option is a separate connection method.

Prepare Your TV

  1. Connect the TV and your iPhone or iPad to the same local network. A TV connected to the router by Ethernet can work with an iPhone on that router’s Wi-Fi.
  2. Allow Local Network access for the app in iPhone or iPad Settings. See the local network guide if the permission is disabled.
  3. Keep the TV on and use its physical remote to open its network or remote-device settings.
  4. Enable control from remote devices. On models with IP control, look for the option that allows registered devices to control the TV. Sony documents this under IP control; the exact menu path varies by model.

Remote Start is a separate setting for allowing a network device to wake the TV from standby. Enable it if you want to try network wake on a compatible model. See Sony’s Remote Start instructions.

Pair in the App

  1. Open Add Device in Remote Mouse & Keyboard. Tap Show All if the device list is filtered.
  2. Choose Sony TV, marked Experimental.
  3. Select your TV when it appears.
  4. Enter the four-digit PIN displayed on the TV when the app asks for it. Keep the TV awake until pairing finishes.
  5. Open the saved TV and try navigation and playback using the controls offered by the app.

If the TV Does Not Appear

In the Sony device list, use Manual connection · Experimental. Find the TV’s local IP address in its network settings, enter it in the app, leave the default port in place, and tap Add TV. Open the saved device and complete any pairing prompt. Manual connection still requires a reachable TV with remote access enabled.

If connection or pairing fails:

  1. Check that both devices are on the same home network. Guest Wi-Fi or network isolation can prevent devices from reaching each other.
  2. Recheck the app’s Local Network permission and the TV’s remote-device access settings.
  3. Retry with the TV awake and watch for a fresh PIN prompt.
  4. If your model runs Android TV or Google TV, follow its platform-specific pairing steps.

Sony support through this mode is experimental. If it still fails, contact support with the TV model, software version, and whether discovery, PIN pairing, or a particular control failed.

Common questions

Should I choose Sony or Android TV?

For a Sony television running Android TV or Google TV, start with the Android TV setup guide. The Sony option uses a separate BRAVIA connection and is experimental.

Can I enter the Sony TV's IP address manually?

Yes. The Sony option in Add Device offers manual connection. Enter the TV's local IP address, keep the default port unless your setup requires another, and complete pairing when prompted.

Does experimental Sony support include every remote feature?

No. Pairing and available controls vary by model and firmware. Use the controls offered for your saved TV; wake, text input, apps, and input selection are not guaranteed on every model.
